Established in 1873 the Evening Star, nicknamed the "Evil Star" was was near the News Limited building, the home of the Daily Telegraph. One of the last Newspaper Pubs it is the Pub where stories were discussed and Journos mixed with editors. The hotel was known to the Daily Telegraph and Daily Mirror staffs as the "Evil Star" when the papers were printed in Surry Hills.
