Top 5 Happy Hours in Abbotsford

Abbotsford is no longer the place down the hill from Fitzroy that doesn’t get as much sun, or where Collingwood Football Club used to play. It’s a thriving scene of breweries, live music, historic pubs with cracking front bars, and of course… tasty happy hours. Here are five of the best.

This place always feels like the most popular venue in Abbotsford, and maybe that’s due to their $1 wing Thursdays! Though the “local’s night” on Wednesday, with their $12 burgers and $18 jugs is reason enough for a double header visit. A weekday happy hour to 6pm too!

Who else missed this pub’s slow opening coming out of lockdown! Its beer garden is one of the best, so grab a table and try their tasty burgers on Thursdays for $20, though the $8 pints of Stingray Draught (made up the street) from 3-6, Tuesday to Friday is a nice lead-in. Great music room too.

The Retreat has always had one of our favourite front bars in town, and with the same ownership of the outstanding Palace Hotel in Port Melbourne, it seems to get better each year. Grab a stool between 4pm-6pm weeknights for happy hour and you’re in a London tavern. The very hearty Sunday Roast is one of our Top 10 too.

Two of our favourite front bars being next to each other (see the Retreat) is an Abbotsford blessing. A great place to watch footy or cricket, we think their $20 Tuesday parma night is pretty spesh and the porterhouse on Wednesday brings in the locals too. Beer garden is a prime possie for groups.

One of the most underrated music pubs in town, the Stingo also has some of the cheapest specials so enter if you’ve never been before. We especially like their “Meatball Monday” for $15, and a weeknight happy hour of Monday-Friday of $7 schooners and wines is always a welcome starter.
Grab a mate or a date (and our app), and get out there to see what the happy hours in Abbotsford have in store for you.
Cheers!
