Melbourne Top 5 Footy Pubs in Melbourne
Top 5 places to watch the footy
Mona Castle Hotel, Seddon
You know a pub is serious about its footy, when you learn they sponsored former Western Bulldog captain, Matthew Boyd, for most of his career. Just a classic backstreet pub with a nice little sports bar out the back, ensuring there is plenty of room. Just don't insult the doggies.
Great Northern Hotel, Carlton North
While it does have a lot of Carlton FC history, the West Australian owner has made it his own, and the Freo train comes in droves. Heaps of screens are around the place and what has to be one of the best tap lists around, there is a 100% chance the GNH will be pumping.
Park Hotel, Abbotsford.
It's been in our Top 5 chicken parmas and front bars for the last decade, and recent new ownership has even made it better. Find a seat in the beer garden, order from the outdoor bar and watch the game on numerous screens.
London Tavern Hotel, Richmond
Beer might be on the pricey side, however the beer garden is one of the city's best, and has a few plasmas dotting around which make it even better. Also such is its proximity to the MCG, you'll be able to hear a few roars on the bigger occasions (three seconds after you see it live), and there is no better feeling when your team wins at the 'G'. and you walk back to the London just to see the delayed telecast. YELLOW AND BLACK!
Limerick Castle Hotel, North Melbourne
Old school simplicity, with a raft of cheap pub classics (Chicken Kiev never gets old) on the blackboard. Head to the "bistro" on the right for prime position to watch the game. They don't make pubs like this anymore! Be sure not to insult the kangaroos!
